  • What kind of pictures do you take?
 
We will take any picture that involves just you or you and your family.  At Paws and Smile, the focus is on your four-legged family members, but we also enjoy family members of the two-legged variety.  More specifically, we can do pictures of just your pet, you and your pet, and/or the whole family.  We also enjoy offering photo shoots for graduation, engagement announcements, anniversaries, growing children, and any kind of family portraits. 
 
  • Why don't you have a studio?
 
We feel that to capture the true personalities of pets and people, it's best to photograph them in an environment they are comfortable in.  It's especially better for the pets.  It also creates an easy and convenient way to capture your memories.
 
  • What locations can we have you come to do the photo shoot?
 
We will meet you at your home, at your favorite park, or at a location that means something to you and your family.  Any ideas that you have are welcome and will be discussed during the scheduling process.
 
  • How far will you travel to conduct a photo shoot?
 
Paws and Smile is Columbus-based.  More specifically, southwestern Columbus.  Travel to central Ohio locations is considered to be part of your session price.  If your location is not in central Ohio or is more than 25 miles away, there is an extra charge for time and travel.  Just let us know if there is a special location that you want to meet at or if your home is far away ... we can work with you to still fit your photo package within your budget.
 
  • What animals will you take pictures of?
 
Any animals!   Dogs and cats are always popular, but we understand that there are some of you that have more exotic family members such as fish, rabbits, hamsters, guinea pigs, reptiles, ferrets, or birds.  We also will photograph horses, livestock, and farm animals.
 
  • Are there any pets that you won't take pictures of?
 
Nope!  If you love them, we love to photograph them!
 
  • What if my pet can be aggressive?
 
Don't worry.  We have a wide variety of experience with shy, and also aggressive animals, including significant experiece in the clinical veterinary setting.  Our goal is to make your pets feel as comfortable as possible and not to push or frighten them.  We will always use your tips and advice on the best way to approach them, but we can handle anything. 
 
  • Can there be props or clothing changes?
 
Of course!  If there are items that you would like to have in the photos we can always include them.  We also encourage you to have clothing changes.  Just know, that the more prop placement and clothing changes that occur, will take up your photo-op time.
 
  • What should I know about my upcoming photo shoot?
 
Any client that schedules a photo shoot with Paws and Smile, will automatically get a packet of information that explains every aspect of the photo shoot and final product in finer detail.  It will also discuss anything you will need to know before the shoot.
 
  • What is the scheduling process?
 
When you are ready to schedule your photo shoot, we can correspond by any way that is convenient for you (phone or e-mail).  We'll set up a date and time according to your preference within a week or up to six months out.  A $50 deposit is due at the time of scheduling.
 
  • What methods of payment do you accept?
 
We accept cash or check only.
 
  • What days of the week do you schedule photo shoots?
 
Typically, we only do Saturdays and Sundays.  However, we can usually schedule sessions that will accommodate your needs.
 
  • What if I need to reschedule or cancel my shoot?  What if the weather is bad?
 
We understand that life happens.  It's definitely acceptable to reschedule once.  However, if you need to reschedule any time after that, there is a $25 fee.  With the unpredictable Ohio weather, if there is any inclement weather on the day of your shoot, rescheduling is free.  Photo shoots are being scheduled constantly, and other clients may need that time so please be considerate of that if you need to make changes to your appointment time.  You may cancel at any time, however, the money you deposited is non-refundable.
 
  • What if I have several pets?
 
The more, the merrier!  There is no extra charge for multiple pets.  Just keep in mind that the more pets there are, the more time that will be taken up.  You may need to consider extra time or a package that includes several hours of shooting time.
 
  • Can you design photo gifts for any photos that I have?
 
We can do that!  There is no additional fee if it's a photo from another time other than your Paws and Smile shoot. 
 
  • Do you do photo shoots all year?
Certainly!  Rain or shine, we'll be there for whatever you need.
 
  • Why are you better than going to a commercial studio?
 
If you are looking for creative and unique pictures, scheduled at your convenience, Paws and Smile is the place for you.  Commercial studios don't specialize in the areas that we specialize in.  When there are pets involved, it may be tricky getting them into a studio or store where there are other pets and strange people everywhere.  Your pet may just not like to travel.  Pets often don't act like their normal selves with all the distractions and new smells of a studio, away from your home.  With Paws and Smile, there is the convenience of never having to leave your home!
 
  • What makes you better than the photographer we used for our wedding?
 
Again, while those photographers are very talented, they still don't specialize in what we do.  We focus on pets and people, making the human-animal bond significant in every shot.
 
  • What if my pets won't cooperate?
 
One aspect of pet photography is that not all subjects are going to "pause and smile" for every shot.  We love that!  What better pictures to have of your family, than the pictures that show them in action!  We can work with anything ... no worries!
 
  • Do I have any say in the shoot?  Can I give ideas?
 
We know you're creative too, so any input or ideas that you have are more than welcome.  We want you to be happy with the finished product.  But for those of you that want us to do all the work ... no problem!  That's why we're here!
 
  • How long does it take to get back my prints?
 
We know how exciting it can be, waiting for the arrival of the prints from your big day!  We work as quickly as possible to get your high-quality prints to you. Just know that the more prints and products you order, the longer it will take.  Also if you order any "Creative Touches," it may take longer.  We hope to have your prints back within a couple weeks and no later than a month after the shoot.  You can also call or e-mail at any time for updates on your order!
 
  • What if I want to order more prints or photo products later?
 
We can do that!  After you receive your initial order, you may order more prints or products any time after that at the current a la carte prices.  We keep a hard copy of your photo session forever.
 
  • What if my questions aren't answered here or on the website?
 
Call or e-mail at any time.  We'll get back to you as quickly as possible.
